My Ideas for Myspace
As we all all know Myspace is going down the tubes so here are my ideas.
1. Make it faster.
2. Allow users to update their sites, I haven't updated my site since the new myspace because I can't get it to work in the bio, for example.
3. Go back to the old way with photos.
4. Allow more user suggestions to be used by myspace and get a 2 way conversation going between myspace users and the staff. Myspace needs to listen more to it's users.
5. Make it easier to comment and message, get rid of the captcha crap.
6. Allow musicians to simulcast on the site through myspace software.
7.Allow musicians to create music and work with other musicians on the site through myspace software.
8. Go back to regional charts etc and make them actually work.
9. Have myspace song competitions with prizes.
10. Sell services, CD's, mastering, booking, finding musicians etc, tell everyone where these functions are.
11. Have myspace send out regular info and bulletins to keep all in the picture and interested.
12. Get Tom's picture off every profile.
13. Finally, myspace needs to look around and link up social media functions that correlate to the essence of myspace.
14. Facebook is not the be all, end all, infact I'm not overly impressed with it.

What Would you Call This Site
Say you built this site a few years back. You could put music on it, you could add pictures, send emails, make comments etc and generally be socially interactive. Then you decided to add some barriers like captcha. Then the site starts to slow down, maybe because of lots of users. Then you do nothing or little to speed it up. Then the world around you changes and others invent sites that are better than your site and you seem to do nothing but rely on cruise control on your site. Then one day it all comes to a head and you realize people don't like your site as much any more and they are leaving in hordes to other sites. So you decide to switch off the cruise control and try to fix your site, but, this time you totally screw it up. It becomes slower than maybe dial-up, pictures are too small, it locks up and the most important thing, nobody likes it, but you decide you know best, as the world bleeds away around your site. Now what would you call that site, prettyf'kedup.com or spaced_out.com

Badfinger
Been doing a lot of listening to Badfinger music as of late. With the exception of Come and Get It, I completely missed them and really I did not correlate Come and Get It to Badfinger either. At the time I was into Hendrix, Blackmore and Page. It seems that's all I listened to. I didn't particularily care for Clapton, maybe it was his guitar tone. But getting back to Badfinger, I have now read much, a very tragic story, some great songs, bad business decisions, ripped off, 2 suicides, it can't get much worse. Hopefully Evans and Ham have peace where they are and may Polley continue existing in hell. I am currently working on a new CD called Under the Influence. The tunes Since I'm With You, Sunshine and Making Love in the Candle Light have all been written after getting into Badfinger. There's at least 6 more waiting to be recorded. One has one little part which is a little too close to a Badfinger song but I will find a way to work around that. Here's the links you need to know. You can also email me at spunkymunkey@cogeco.ca if you wish to recieve Spunky Munkey updates. I'm going to be doing this for myspace because myspace has become often unreliable, but that's another blog.http://www.facebook.com/pages/Spunky-Munkey-Songs/171356816225019

New Songs
Been listening to really only one band for a few weeks now, kind of causing me to write songs a little different. Less effects for one thing and mainly a sound that can be played live, unlike some of my past tunes.

Tom Wilson , LHO, HP
Saw Tom Wilson and his son's band Harlan Pepper at the Pearl Factory last night.
http://thepearlcompany.ca/ The event was for music but also to bring awareness to upcoming municipal elections in Hamilton, issues regarding The Pearl Factory, Municipal Government and Paul Tetley for change. http://paultetley.com/change.php
Read all the info and do a little name googling if you are not up on Hamilton's lost direction and potential.
To put it bluntly both shows were excellent. Tom Wilson was at the top of his game and the energy was impressive. His son's new on the scene band, Harlan Pepper showed off impressive musicianship and solid original material. Tom Wilson played a mix of his catalog and LHO tunes. There is something magical that happens with LHO material when it is played live, it percs into heavy, danceable, beat orientated and down right mighty fine. Meaning, if you have listened to the songs like Cukoo's Nest, Queen Bee after buying the CD, you absolutley have to go to a live show to hear the rest of the sonic ambience of these tunes. I've been to a number of shows now and it's mind boggling just good these tunes really, especially live. Also I'm not sure how Tom sets up his acoustic guitar but the sound is fairly unbelievable good.
Tom's band includes his long time drummer from the Junkhouse days, Ray Farrugia and Brent Titcomb (LHO), who is an accomplished artist on his own. Ray Farrugia is one of the best, beat solid drummers I have ever heard, this guy could probably outclass any click track with his impeccable timing. Brent Titcomb I am not as familiar with but he came across last night with excellent vocals in the song he did.
I am not one to fawn over shows I go to but in this case you have to give credit where credit is due and this show really rocked and stood out.
